China Airlines is set to launch a Taipei (Taoyuan) - Cebu service on March 29, 2020 with six flights each week. Cebu will be the second destination in the Philippines after Manila to receive regular scheduled services as part of China Airlines' long-term push to expand its network in Southeast Asia.
The China Airlines Taipei (Taoyuan) - Cebu service will be flown by B737-800 aircraft with flights departing every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Flight CI705, the outbound service, will depart at 07:40 in the morning and arrive at 10:35 local time. Flight CI706, the return service, will take off at 11:35 and arrive back in Taipei (Taoyuan) at 14:30. The early departure and afternoon arrival will provide passengers with more flexibility in their itineraries.
Cebu is the second largest city in the Philippines and is also known as the "Queen City of the South." The city is surrounded by 166 islands and is home to a rich marine ecology. Its pristine beauty has made it an international diving destination and Cebu was voted the 2nd best island in Asia for 2019 by Condé Nast Traveler.
Due to the positive outlook of the Philippine travel market, China Airlines operates daily flights to the capital Manila. There are 14 Taipei (Taoyuan) - Manila services and 4 Kaohsiung - Manila services every week. Code-sharing with Philippine Airlines since 2015 has boosted flight availability and flexibility.
The addition of the Cebu route next year will bring the total number of passenger destinations that China Airlines flies to in Southeast Asia to 16. China Airlines is continuing to develop the market for mutual visits between Taiwan and Southeast Asia, with a particular emphasis on the market for transiting through Taiwan to improve transit performance. Promotional fares will be offered by China Airlines as from today onwards to celebrate the new Taipei (Taoyuan) - Cebu service with Economy Class return air fares starting from TWD 5,060 before taxes.
